Eligible Missouri public school educators and educator preparation program faculty will be appointed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to participate in test development conferences/meetings.
Opportunities for participation include:
Content Advisory Committee member. The Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments (MEGA) include the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA), developmental (pedagogy) assessments, and content assessments. A Content Advisory Committee of educators who are subject matter experts will be established for each assessment. Each Content Advisory Committee will review draft test materials. Content Advisory Committee members may also assist the DESE in other development activities, including setting passing standards for the assessments.
Bias Review Committee member. Educators will review assessment materials for potential sources of bias according to established review criteria pertaining to test content, language, offensiveness, stereotypes, and inclusiveness. Members will make recommendations that will help prevent potential bias that would disadvantage a person because of her or his gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, and/or handicapping condition, or cultural, economic, or geographic background.
